My One & Only

Written by Grant Richards. Posted in Blog

One thing that I’m missing with my new site is anything too historical from my DJing career. I’ve got a ton of flyers and magazine clippings but none of them exist digitally. I did get sent this from Paul Kinky the other day though. A flyer from my (and Kinky Malinki’s) first time in the world famous Ministry of Sound Box.

Funnily enough, not only was it my first time but it was Grant Nelson’s too, whom I played after to close the room. I remember a few things, being nervous, not wanting to use the rotary mixer and I specifically recall playing Fly Away by Joey Negro’s Sunburst Band, which if you don’t remember it, here you go……

Can’t imagine playing that in there these days mind you!? Anyway this is a flyer for a proud achievement in my DJing life…..

Too Old To Rave??

Old-Man-Raver
A work mate joked to me the other day “Aren’t you a bit too old to be gallivanting around night clubs?” It was one of those comments that was said in jest, but had an undertone that was deadly serious. You’ve probably guessed that I’m a bit of a thinker by now (well, when it suits me) and that comment bounced round my head for the rest of the day. It disappeared for a few days and then I ended up playing at Warehouse for Kinky Malinki and one particular clubber brought that comment flooding back, so I thought I’d write about it.
